The provincial minister also visited the office of WASA Gujrat and reviewed the modern online complaint redressal system at the complaints cell. He inspected the pace of work at Service Mor Bridge and Rehman Shaheed Road, and reviewed the construction of a disposal station at Zahoor Elahi Shaheed Stadium.
Chaudhry Shafay Hussain stated that WASA is removing sewerage waste accumulated over the past 15 to 20 years and that development projects are being completed on time and in accordance with quality standards. Alongside the internationally standard sewerage project launched after the chief minister’s approval, several other multi-billion-rupee development schemes are also progressing rapidly.
He further said that a contingency plan has been prepared to protect the city from any flood-like situation and that all concerned institutions are working in close coordination. He directed authorities to ensure effective monitoring of machinery maintenance and work progress, and to keep a strict watch on miscreants deliberately blocking sewerage drains. He added that the Service Mor Bridge is in its final stages of completion and will be opened to traffic within the next one and a half months.
The provincial minister emphasised that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government has completed record development projects over the past two years, from which the public is benefiting.
