Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk) – Former Member of the National Assembly from NA-62 and PML-N Divisional President Chaudhry Abid Raza has shared his views regarding the voting age, questioning whether 18-year-olds should have the right to decide the country’s leadership.
Chaudhry Abid Raza stated that individuals under the age of 25 are not eligible to contest elections, and therefore, the age of voters should also be reconsidered. He emphasized that voting is a crucial part of selecting the country’s future leadership and should be exercised by individuals who possess sufficient maturity and understanding of national interests.
The former MNA argued that people at the age of 18 are often not considered mature enough to make major personal decisions, such as marriage, yet they are allowed to vote for the prime minister of the country. He questioned how this contradiction could be justified when the minimum age to contest elections is 25 years.
Chaudhry Abid Raza called on all political parties to collectively find a solution to this issue so that leadership with strong vision and understanding can be elected to work for the country’s development and progress.
