Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): Gujrat Police, continuing their crackdown against narcotics, carried out a major operation and arrested a drug dealer from the jurisdiction of Police Station Saddar Sarai Alamgir. A large quantity of drugs was recovered from the suspect, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
According to details, on the special directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat Rana Umar Farooq, strict action is being taken across the district against drug peddlers. In this regard, under the supervision of DSP Sarai Alamgir Circle Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Maken, SHO Police Station Saddar Sarai Alamgir Aftab Rasool Chauhan, along with Sub-Inspector Iftikhar Ahmed and the police team, conducted a targeted operation.
During the operation, the police arrested Muhammad Shahab son of Farhan, caste Butt, resident of Mohalla Rehmat Pura, Gujrat. Upon search, 1240 grams of hashish were recovered from his possession, which was being used for drug trafficking. The accused was taken into custody immediately after the recovery.
Police have registered a case against the accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act, while further investigation is underway. During the investigation, efforts are also being made to gather information about the accused’s possible accomplices and the drug supply network.
On this occasion, DPO Gujrat Rana Umar Farooq praised the performance of the police team and stated that a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against the menace of drug trafficking. He emphasized that indiscriminate actions will continue against such elements to protect the younger generation from the harmful effects of drugs.
According to district police officials, ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property and making society drug-free remain top priorities. Citizens have also welcomed this action by Gujrat Police and expressed hope that such operations will continue consistently in the future.
