Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): A spokesperson for the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has announced that Pakistan has successfully secured a quota of 10,500 jobs from Italy. Under this agreement, Italy has allocated a job quota for Pakistan for the next three years.
The spokesperson said that Italy is the first European country to allocate a job quota specifically for Pakistan. Under the arrangement, 3,500 Pakistanis will travel to Italy every year for employment under seasonal and non-seasonal categories.
According to details, 1,500 Pakistanis will be sent annually under the seasonal quota, while 2,000 will go under the non-seasonal quota. Job quotas have been allocated in sectors including shipbreaking, healthcare, and agriculture.
The spokesperson further stated that skilled and semi-skilled Pakistani workers will be employed in these sectors. Employment opportunities are available for welders, technicians, chefs, waiters, and housekeeping staff.
He added that opportunities also exist in nursing, medical technology, farming, and agriculture-related fields. The second meeting of the Pakistan–Italy Joint Working Group will be held in Islamabad in February.
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain termed Italy’s allocation of a job quota for Pakistan a significant milestone. He said that doors of employment for the Pakistani workforce in Italy are about to open.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain further stated that more European countries will soon open their doors to the Pakistani workforce. He described this development as an important milestone in exploring new employment opportunities for Pakistan in the European labor market.
He emphasized that the Government of Pakistan is continuously striving to provide respectable employment opportunities to its workers at the global level, adding that overseas Pakistanis serve as ambassadors of the country and play a backbone role in strengthening the national economy.
