Metro53 - LAHORE (Web Desk): Minister of State Huzefa Rehman has claimed that the government had initially aimed to bring petrol prices down to Rs150 per litre, but changing circumstances prevented the move, and the price is now expected to be reduced to around Rs200 per litre.

Speaking on the television programme Jawab Do with Farakh Waraich, the minister said the government had been working on measures to provide relief to the public through lower fuel prices. However, he added that certain economic and administrative challenges affected the original plan.

During the programme, Rehman also addressed criticism surrounding the recently proposed Telecommunications Bill, acknowledging shortcomings in the legislation.

“We are embarrassed over the Telecommunications Bill. We admit our mistake and will correct it,” he said. “Please accept our apology on this matter.”

The minister stressed that the government was committed to reviewing the bill and making necessary amendments to address public concerns. He said constructive criticism from stakeholders would be taken into consideration before finalising any legislative changes.

His remarks come amid growing debate over fuel pricing policies and regulatory measures in the telecommunications sector, both of which have attracted significant public attention in recent weeks.
